Qualcomm Hit With Patent Suit Over GPS Technology

Law360, New York (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Gabriel Technologies Corp., a maker of security systems for the cargo industry, said it is seeking more than $1 billion in damages against Qualcomm Inc. in a suit accusing the technology giant of illegally taking credit for the company's global positioning technology.

The Omaha, Neb.-based company said Monday it filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in order to obtain a court order declaring Gabriel Technologies the rightful owner of patents covering the technology.
