High Court Won't Review Fla. Judge's Removal From Bench

Law360, New York (January 11, 2016, 2:42 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to consider a Florida county judge’s bid for reinstatement to the bench after she was removed by the state’s highest court for her improper actions as an attorney regarding a $14.5 million insurance settlement.

The high court shot down Laura M. Watson’s petition for a writ of certiorari arguing that the Florida Supreme Court’s June decision removing her as a jurist in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court in Broward County directly conflicts with U.S. Supreme Court precedent and overturns the outcome of a lawful judicial election.
