Lawyer: Heart Attack Caused By Bad Health, Not Vioxx

Law360 (July 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A grandmother’s poor health—not Vioxx—caused her heart attack, a lawyer for drug giant Merck & Co. told a jury in New Jersey Tuesday.

In one of a legion of cases Merck faces over its one-time blockbuster arthritis and pain reliever, its lawyer said Elaine Doherty’s heart attack was inevitable.
