Starbucks Sues Coffee Chain Over 'Freddoccino' Drink
By Bill Donahue (January 12, 2016, 6:31 PM EST) -- Starbucks Corp. lodged a trademark lawsuit Monday in New York federal court accusing a Canadian chain restaurant operator of ripping off the coffee giant's Frappuccino brand with a drink called the "Freddoccino."
Starbucks says the similarly-named frozen drink — sold at Obsidian Group Inc.'s Coffee Culture Cafe locations in Western New York — is both infringing and diluting its trademark rights in the highly lucrative Frappuccino, which had $1.5 billion in sales in the last fiscal year.
