Class Certified In ERISA Suit Against AK Steel

Law360 (October 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has certified a class of plaintiffs accusing AK Steel Corp. of making deductions to pension benefits for surviving spouses based on Social Security benefits they earned through their own employment.

In an order filed Monday, Judge Michael R. Barrett of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio said the plaintiffs had met the requirements for certification in their suit seeking unpaid benefits arising from alleged miscalculations under the company pension plan.
