Plaintiffs Lawyer, Edwards Fundraiser Fred Baron Dies

Law360, New York (October 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Plaintiffs lawyer Frederick M. Baron, the Texas Democrat who served as national finance chairman in John Edwards' 2008 presidential campaign, died Thursday in Dallas of complications from multiple myeloma cancer.

Baron reportedly admitted in August that he had given money to a woman Edwards had an affair with to help her relocate.

A toxic substance plaintiff's lawyer since the mid-1970s – a role that earned him the designation "King of Torts" – Baron spent his last years fundraising for national Democratic candidates.
