Jury Finds Home Health Care Doctor Guilty Of Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (January 26, 2016, 5:28 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal jury on Monday found a Mobile Doctors USA LLC physician guilty of taking part in a scheme to defraud Medicare by falsely qualifying patients for home health care services, costing the government at least $45,000 for a single patient.

The jury found Dr. Banio Koroma, 66, guilty on two counts of health care fraud and two counts of making false statements related to health care matters following a four-day trial depicting a scheme to "upcode" Medicare bills by certifying that visits to patients were more complicated and took more time than they actually did.
