Law360, New York (January 26, 2016, 6:19 PM EST) -- Ecuador will appeal the District Court of The Hague's decision last week that left intact arbitration awards favoring Chevron Corp. in a dispute over alleged contamination in the Amazon rain forest, the country's attorney general has confirmed.
Attorney General Diego Garcia Carrion on Monday said the country disputed the court's Jan. 20 ruling favoring the U.S. oil and gas company and subsidiary Texaco Petroleum. He said the Dutch judges erred in dismissing Ecuador's arguments that the court lacked the authority to hear Chevron's claims and that the awards violated the country's public policy.
