EBay, Travel Sites Hit With Patent Suits Over Menu Bar Tech
Law360, New York (February 1, 2016, 5:42 PM EST) -- Global Equity Management Ltd. hit eBay Inc., Expedia Inc., Orbitz Worldwide Inc. and other travel websites with patent suits in Texas federal court Friday, alleging the sites' side menu bars infringe patented technology.
The 10 lawsuits each claim that the companies’ websites use a patented graphical user interface, or GUI, that includes a sidebar with clickable links that allows users to easily access multiple websites and data sources.
Global Equity also filed suits against CruiseShipCenters LP, Hotels.com LP, Hotwire Inc., Travago GmbH, Travelocity.com LP, Hipmunk Inc. and TripAdvisor Inc., alleging they all offer and encourage their customers to use a GUI...
