Google Abandons Advertising Deal With Yahoo

Law360 (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Google Inc. has decided to withdraw from a proposed online advertising partnership with Yahoo Inc. rather than face off with the U.S. Department of Justice in a protracted antitrust battle.

Under the proposed agreement, which was first announced in June, Yahoo would have gained the option of placing Google ads on its Internet search results page. The DOJ informed them this week, however, that it would file an antitrust lawsuit unless they abandoned the deal.
