EPA Sues Pipeline Co. For Repeated Oil Spills

Law360, New York (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking millions of dollars in penalties from Plantation Pipe Line Co. for discharging thousands of gallons of oil into federal waters over the past eight years.

In a lawsuit lodged on Tuesday, the EPA also accused Plantation Pipe Line, which Kinder Morgan Energy Partners operates and partially owns, of failing to comply with the agency's repeated warning that its onshore storage tank could reasonably be expected to spill oil.
