Jury Denies Baxter’s $87M Bid In Dialysis Dispute

Law360 (July 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a major upset for Baxter International Inc., a California jury has ruled that medical device maker Fresenius Medical Care did not infringe any patents related to hemodialysis machines, leaving Baxter’s quest for $87 million in royalties unfulfilled.

The jury returned the verdict on Monday, roundly rejecting the plaintiff’s assertion that Fresenius had violated four of its patents in a long-standing battle dating back to 2003.
