Chicago Firms Hit With Malpractice Suits Over Business Row

Law360, New York (February 12, 2016, 4:17 PM EST) -- Strauss & Malk LLP, Siprut PC and several attorneys were hit with a malpractice suit Thursday in Illinois federal court accusing them of botching a businessman's suit against his former partner over the ownership of a portfolio of GPS mapping patents.

Charles F. Short III alleged that the two firms and five attorneys failed to bring a derivative suit against the officers and directors of Sidewinder Holdings Ltd. after his former business partner, Ian J. Pye, allegedly defrauded Short when selling the patent portfolio owned by Sidewinder.
