Poker Players File Suit Against Tournament Operator

Law360, New York (July 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Seven professional poker players have placed their bets against World Poker Tour Enterprises Inc. in an antitrust lawsuit alleging the company shut out competition by entering into an agreement with casinos that host only WPT-televised poker tournaments.

The players filed the lawsuit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claiming that at least 11 casinos that host WPT tournaments have signed contracts not to compete with each other through 2009.
