NBC Sues E! Over "Saturday Night Live" Copyright

Law360, New York (January 13, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. broadcaster NBC filed a lawsuit on Monday against cable network E! Entertainment Television over E!’s right to broadcast a five-part collection of clips from comedy variety series “Saturday Night Live.”

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Central California, alleges copyright infringement and breach of contract.

The suit is seeking to bar E! from airing its five-part series "101 Most Unforgettable 'SNL' Moments," slated to start on Sunday. The complaint also seeks seeks treble damages.
