Consol Takes EEOC 'Mark of the Beast' Suit To 4th Circ.

Law360, New York (March 4, 2016, 3:00 PM EST) -- Consol Energy has asked the Fourth Circuit to review a $600,000 West Virginia federal jury verdict in a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission religious bias suit stemming from an employee’s departure over hand scanners he thought were the work of the devil.

The company notified the court on Wednesday that it planned to appeal the outcome of the EEOC’s suit, brought on behalf of a worker who thought technology requiring workers to scan their hands to clock in and out signified the “mark of the beast”...
