States Wade Into Stem-Cell Research Controversy

Law360, New York (July 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Days after President Bush used his veto power for the first time to block stem-cell research legislation, several state leaders have added to the controversy, saying the U.S. cannot fall behind other countries that make science a priority.

Meanwhile, the European Union voted to fund similar research, though it has stipulated the cash cannot be used for research with a goal of human cloning for reproductive purposes nor for research intended to modify the genetic heritage of humans. The funding will come from the E.U.'s research...
