Sony Hit With $18.5M Infringement Verdict

Law360 (November 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Sony Corp. has been slapped with an $18.5 million verdict for allegedly infringing a music chip patent held by technology company Agere Systems Inc. with products including Sony's PlayStation Portable.

The verdict of willful infringement was handed down Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas by a jury that said that Sony's mylo personal communicator, Network Walkman audio player and PlayStation Portable infringe the patent-at-issue.
