Mazda Gets Partial Win In Signal Car-Safety Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 31, 2016, 4:24 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge found in an order posted Thursday that Mazda didn’t infringe on two of Signal IP Inc.’s car-safety patents, though he said Signal sufficiently showed Mazda may have infringed on a third patent.

U.S. District Judge John A. Kronstadt granted Mazda Motor of America Inc.’s motion for summary judgment for U.S. Patent Nos. 6,012,007 and 5,714,927, which cover a seat-weight sensor and a blind spot monitoring system, respectively, saying Signal couldn't prove the automaker had infringed the patents.
