Yahoo Gets Attorneys' Fees In NCAA Contest Insurance Row

Law360, New York (April 4, 2016, 7:12 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Monday awarded attorneys' fees to Yahoo after a ruling that a sweepstakes insurer must refund $550,000 in fees the Internet giant paid prior to scrapping a $1 billion NCAA March Madness contest.

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor granted Yahoo Inc.’s sought attorneys' fees from insurer SCA Promotions Inc. and awarded pre- and post-judgment interest on the $550,000 award from last month, which totals more than $56,000, according to a Monday order. The amount of attorneys’ fees sought was not immediately clear, as Yahoo’s motion is still under seal. Attorneys for Yahoo were not available for comment...
