Football's BCS Anti-Competitive: Lawmakers

Law360, New York (November 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Three congressmen have written to President-elect Barack Obama to bring attention to their call for an antitrust probe of college football's Bowl Championship Series, which they say is an illegal and anti-competitive system.

In a letter Thursday, Reps. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii; Mike Simpson, R-Idaho; and Jim Matheson, D-Utah, told Obama that the BCS could not withstand application of the Sherman Act.

In April, two of the three men introduced House Resolution 1120, which asked the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division to investigate the BCS system....
