ACLU Launches Class Action Over Detention Of Immigrants
Law360, New York (April 12, 2016, 11:35 PM EDT) -- The American Civil Liberties Union has lodged a class action fighting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's purported continued detention of immigrants after a judge has found they can't be deported, the group announced Tuesday.
The suit, filed by the ACLU of Minnesota, the University of Minnesota Law School's Center for New Americans and Dorsey & Whitney, challenges ICE's "practice of continuing to detain immigrants for months," according to a statement.
