Gristede’s Plaintiffs Press For Class Certification

Law360 (December 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group of women who work at Gristede’s has moved for class certification in a case that accuses the New York supermarket chain of channeling women into lower-paying jobs and failing to promote them to management positions.

The motion for class certification, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges that, of the 183 management-level employees at Gristede's in 2006, only 10 were women.
