Carnival Booking Cuban-Born Passengers Despite Travel Ban

Law360, Miami (April 18, 2016, 8:58 PM EDT) -- Cuban-born customers suing Carnival expressed optimism over its announcement Monday that booking for planned Miami-to-Cuba cruises is now open to them while it continues discussions on changing Cuban regulations barring those passengers' arrivals, but said they still seek permanent resolution.

Facing intense backlash, including the putative class action filed last week claiming discriminatory practices, the world's largest cruise operator also said that it will postpone its scheduled May 1 commencement of the sailings on its Fathom line, the first from a U.S. port to Cuba in more than 50 years, if changes are not made by then.
