By Jess Krochtengel (May 9, 2016, 5:46 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal jury on Friday invalidated two patents for breath-freshening dog treats held by a Mars subsidiary, handing a defense win to competitor True Science, which had been accused of infringing the Mars patents.
The unanimous Eastern District of Texas jury rejected Mars Inc. and Mars Petcare US Inc.'s allegations that True Science had infringed a total of seven claims of U.S. Patent Numbers 6,495,176 and 6,652,892, which cover breath-freshening animal food compositions used in Mars' Greenies line of dog treats.
