SEC Approves MSRB Web Portal For Muni Bond Data

Law360, New York (December 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an effort to increase transparency in the $2.6 trillion municipal securities market, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has unanimously approved measures that designate the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board as the central repository for electronic disclosures by municipal issuers to investors.

Effective July 1, 2009, the MSRB will make the disclosures available through its Electronic Municipal Market Access system, a consolidated online portal through which investors can access key information about municipal bonds for free, the SEC announced Monday.
