Lawyers, Employers Brace For NJ Paid Family Leave

Law360, New York (December 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- With the first phase of New Jersey’s progressive paid family leave insurance law set to go into effect Jan. 1, attorneys have warned employers to tighten their written policies and brace themselves for an upswing in family-related absences.

New Jersey is the third state, following California and Washington, to enact a paid leave program that gives wages to employees who wish to use leave to take care of newborns, newly adopted children or relatives with serious health conditions.
