Defying Obama, Texas Gov. Vows To Beef Up Iran Sanctions

Greg Abbott on Monday told the Obama administration that the Iran nuclear deal will not lead the state to rescind its sanctions against the Middle East nation, vowing instead to strengthen those measures and reiterating his fervent opposition to the accord.

In a letter to President Barack Obama, Abbott declined the White House's request to examine and potentially lift its state-level sanctions, asserting that the landmark pact between the U.S., Iran and other world powers does not do enough to deter Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
