Facing Suit, Luminant To Upgrade Emissions Controls

Law360, New York (December 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Luminant has agreed to install new emissions controls and abide by stricter regulatory review in order to settle with the Sierra Club and Public Citizen, which had planned to sue the company over allegations that construction plans for its Oak Grove, Texas, coal-fired facility didn't meet mercury emissions standards.

Luminant, a subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corp., is in the process of installing sorbent injection systems that use activated carbon to limit mercury emissions at the 1,600-megawatt Oak Grove facility, the company announced Tuesday.
