GM Hit With Suit Over 'Fudged' Fuel Economy Ratings

Law360, Los Angeles (May 17, 2016, 5:11 PM EDT) -- General Motors LLC on Tuesday was hit with a proposed class action over changes to its fuel economy calculations for three different vehicles as drivers argued that the allegedly fudged numbers ding their wallets not only at the gas pump but also in the cars’ value.

GM allegedly circulated a memo to its authorized dealerships on Friday alerting dealers that its 2016 Chevrolet Traverses, 2016 Buick Enclaves and 2016 GMC Acadias are rated at 15 miles per gallon in city driving and 22 miles per gallon on the highway, for a combined rating of two miles less per gallon than previously...
