Law360, New York ( June 3, 2016, 11:25 AM EDT) -- On Friday, May 27, the California Supreme Court indicated, in oral argument in the Robert Half International case,[1] that it might require class counsel seeking payment of fees as a percentage of a common fund to submit a lodestar cross-check, provide time sheets, contend with a class guardian, or meet other requirements. Although the underlying decision on appeal[2] was a wage and hour class action that settled for $19 million, and out of which class counsel was awarded 33.33 percent of the settlement fund, or $6,333,333.33, at rates up to $1,597.50 per hour, the court's pending decision could have implications for every class action in a California state court....
