Broadcom Says Sony's Playstation 4 Infringes 10 Patents

Law360, Los Angeles (June 7, 2016, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Broadcom Corp. and Avago Technologies General IP (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. — which acquired Broadcom earlier this year — hit Sony Corp. on Monday with a California federal suit accusing it of infringing 10 technology patents with Sony's popular PlayStation 4 gaming system.

The suit claims Sony has continued selling products that encode and decode video data despite a portfolio license lapsing in late March 2014. The patents are related to the audio and video code MPEG.
