Tennis Player's Patent Suit Over Hybrid Court Tossed

Law360, New York (December 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed a patent suit filed by a former tennis pro who claimed that two companies had used her model for a half-grass and half-clay tennis court for a showdown between tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Judge Joseph F. Anderson of the U.S. District Court for the district of South Carolina dismissed the case Dec. 29, citing a lack of personal jurisdiction, as the match had taken place outside the U.S., and the plaintiff’s failure to state an adequate claim....
