Dell To Pay $3.85M For Allegedly Misleading Buyers

Law360, New York (January 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Dell Inc. has agreed to pay $3.85 million in a settlement with 46 states over allegations that it misled consumers about financing, warranties and rebates.

Under the agreement, which several state attorneys general announced Monday, Dell will also agree to adopt new sales practices.

The company will pay $1.5 million in refunds to consumers allegedly misled about their computer purchases between April 1, 2005, and April 13, 2008. Consumers must file claims by April 13.
