Sutter Health To Settle Price-Gouging Claims

Law360, New York (August 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California hospital chain has agreed to reimburse patients who claim they were overcharged because they did not have insurance, bringing an end to a class action suit filed against the company in 2004.

Sacramento-based Sutter Health may offer patients discounts or refunds of up to 45% to settle charges that the chain overcharged patients without health insurance and then employed aggressive methods to collect payments.
