Likely Obama Picks For Key Antitrust Posts Surface

Law360 (January 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- President-elect Barack Obama reportedly has plans to tap U.S. Federal Trade Commissioner Jon Leibowitz and Harvard law professor Einer Elhauge for the government's two highest antitrust positions.

Leibowitz, a Democratic commissioner who joined the FTC in 2004, is expected to replace William Kovacic as chairman of the commission, in acting capacity at first, Reuters reported Thursday, citing antitrust sources who have been following the matter.

Meanwhile, Elhauge, an Obama adviser, is expected to be appointed to head the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, the news...
