Star Tribune Files For Ch. 11 Amid Newspaper Woes

Law360 (January 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The rocky road continued for the newspaper industry as Minnesota's largest newspaper ducked into bankruptcy protection Thursday.

Citing a drop in advertising revenue, the Star Tribune Co., which serves Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding area, filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The newspaper said it had sufficient cash to continue its operations, and does not expect to need debtor-in-possession financing.
