Hendrix Estate Seeks Sanctions In 'Purple Haze' Liquor Row

Law360, New York (September 9, 2016, 2:47 PM EDT) -- Jimi Hendrix's estate urged a Georgia federal court Friday to sanction Tiger Paw Distributors LLC, which is allegedly violating the deceased music legend’s trademark, saying the company has violated a court order by reactivating a website selling Purple Haze Liqueur.

Los Angeles-based Tiger Paw and its president, Joe Wallace, had removed the jimipurplehaze.com website in early May, before the court issued a June 22 preliminary injunction prohibiting Tiger Paw from using “jimi” in the names of its websites, social media profiles and other online platforms, according...
