P&G, Sanofi’s Actonel Dragged Into Fosamax MDL

Law360 (January 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A plaintiff has added as defendants Procter & Gamble Co. and Sanofi-Aventis US LLC, the manufacturers of the osteoporosis drug Actonel, to an amended complaint in the multidistrict litigation over Merck & Co. Inc.'s osteoporosis drug Fosamax.

Judge John F. Keenan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York approved plaintiff Ronna Greene’s motion to amend the complaint on Wednesday. Sanofi and P&G’s drug Actonel belongs to the same class of pharmaceuticals — oral bisphosphonates — as Merck’s Fosamax.
