Heart-Device Lawsuits Skyrocket For Boston Scientific

Law360, New York (August 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In just the past three months, Medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. has been handed about 250 new lawsuits related to implantable defibrillator devices, according to the company’s recent filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The newest complaints are a mixture of individual and class action lawsuits and bring Boston Scientific’s collection of litigation to a staggering 550 cases—all related to implantable defibrillator devices that have been linked to multiple deaths.
