Trader Joe's, Gristedes Resolve Trader John's Spat

Law360, New York (January 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Trader Joe’s Co. and Gristedes Foods Inc. have settled a trademark infringement lawsuit just weeks after Trader Joe's sued the rival grocer over a plan to open a supermarket called Trader John’s.

In an endorsed letter filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Trader Joe’s said the parties reached a settlement.

Judge Loretta A. Preska granted Trader Joe's motion for a temporary restraining order preventing Gristedes from using the words "Trader John's" on a New York storefront until Feb....
