Glaxo Forks Over $70M in Drug-Pricing Fraud

Law360, New York (August 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- GlaxoSmithKline PLC has agreed to shell out an estimated $70 million to put to rest claims that the pharmaceutical giant artificially inflated the prices of various drugs, including cancer medications.

The company announced the nationwide class-action settlement on Thursday, marking the end of the consolidated Boston litigation over GlaxoSmithKline’s Average Wholesale Price of various medicines.

The health care goliath also revealed a deal over claims filed by the attorney generals of New York, California, Connecticut, Nevada, Montana and Arizona, as well as potential claims by 34...
