Taxotere-Related Hair Loss Suits Centralized In Louisiana

Law360, New York (October 5, 2016, 7:26 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday ordered all federally filed Taxotere lawsuits involving allegations of permanent hair loss be consolidated in Louisiana district court in the name of efficiency and convenience.

Thirty-three cases pending in 16 districts including California, Mississippi and Illinois have similarly accused pharmaceutical company Sonafi SA of touting its breast cancer treatment drug Taxotere as superior to its competitors’ despite knowing it frequently caused permanent hair loss, alleging that Sonafi went to great lengths to hide the problem.
