FCC Told To Wrap Up Review Of Nexstar-Media General Deal

Law360, Washington (October 6, 2016, 5:13 PM EDT) -- Broadcasters urged the Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday to finish reviewing Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc.’s $4.6 billion acquisition of Media General Corp. and, if approved, let the deal go forward during the incentive auction, or risk penalizing broadcasters during an extended auction process.

The deal has been waiting far longer than the FCC’s informal 180-day shot clock for reviewing major transactions, and the U.S. Department of Justice has already approved the acquisition, the National Association of Broadcasters said in a letter Wednesday. Nexstar and Media General...
