Fed. Circ. Braces For Overhaul As Retirements Loom

Law360 (January 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is about to undergo a major transformation, as two-thirds of the 12 judges sitting on its bench will be eligible for retirement or senior status soon.

As many as six of the eight eligible judges are expected to depart the appeals court in the next few years, leaving open a record number of seats at the Federal Circuit at a time when patent law is drawing more attention from the public and industry groups.
