FDA Report Spurs Punitive Damages Claims V. PCA

Law360 (January 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Peanut Corp. of America has been hit with claims for punitive damages in light of a recent report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finding the company shipped peanut products knowing that they could be contaminated with salmonella.

The food-borne illness law firm Marler Clark LLP PS added the claims in an amended complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia on behalf of a Vermont couple who became ill from eating salmonella-tainted peanut butter.
