Google Sued Over Trademark-Related Advertisements

Law360, New York (January 28, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A home furnishing company has fired a legal salvo against Google in the looming legal battle over trademarks in online advertising.

American Blind and Wallpaper Factory filed suit against Google and its partners, AOL and Netscape, in a New York federal court Tuesday.

The lawsuit centers on Google's AdWords program, which lets advertisers buy space next to search results when a specific search term is used, even if those terms have been trademarked.
