Thomson Reuters T-Shirt Spat Leads To NLRB Charges

Law360 (February 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The New York Newspaper Guild is claiming that Thomson Reuters Corp. ran afoul of federal labor law by barring workers from wearing red union shirts to demonstrate solidarity during contract negotiations, but the media company says it just wanted employees who sit near its TV cameras to wear something less distracting.

The Guild said on Tuesday that it had lodged two unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, alleging that the company banned Newspaper Guild T-shirts and implemented a dress code without bargaining...
