Obama Asks DOE To Set New Appliance Standards

Law360, New York (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- President Obama has mandated that the U.S. Department of Energy issue new efficiency standards for an array of household appliances by the deadlines set by a 2006 court-approved consent decree.

On Thursday, Obama issued a directive to the DOE requiring that it create and finalize efficiency standards for at least 15 appliances categories in compliance with the decree's series of deadlines.
