Fed. Circ. Revives Part Of Web Patent Suit Against Google

Law360, New York (November 21, 2016, 6:22 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Monday gave some new life to a patent infringement lawsuit that Unwired Planet LLC brought against Google Inc., ruling a lower court had wrongly interpreted certain key phrases in two of the mobile web patents that were at issue in the case.

The appeals court vacated a judgment of noninfringement that Unwired had stipulated to following a Nevada federal judge’s construction of the claims and sent the case back to the district court for additional proceedings.

The Federal Circuit said it disagreed with the district court’s interpretation of a limited number of terms in two Unwired patents....
